"আমরা যখন ছাত্র ছিলাম সে সময় ঠাকুরগাঁও-এ কোচিং বিষয়টা এতোটা প্রচলিত ছিল না। ভালো একটি পেশায় জীবন নির্বাহ করবার জন্য ভালো একটা বিষয় নির্বাচন করাও অনেক কঠিন কাজ ছিল। এখনকার মত সচেতন অভিভাবক থাকাটা যেন সৌভাগ্য ছিল। সাধারণত রাজশাহী ওল্ড গভঃ কলেজ সবার পছন্দের তালিকায় থাকতো। এছাড়াও অনেকের মনোনয়নে থাকতো রংপুর কারমাইকেল কলেজ। তবে একটা বিষয় মনে আছে, আমাদের ১৯৮৫ সালের জিলা স্কুল ব্যাচে ফেইল করা কোন ছাত্র ছিল না।

ল নিয়ে পড়া আমার আজন্ম স্বপ্ন ছিল। কিন্তু বাবার ইচ্ছা ছিল না। বাবার কথা কোনদিন ফেলতে পারিনি তাই স্বপ্নটা স্বপ্নই থেকে গেল। শিক্ষক যে হব ভাবিনি। পাশ করবার পর বিভিন্ন চাকুরির পরীক্ষাও দিয়েছি। একটা ব্যাংকে হয়েছিল। শিক্ষক হবার পর আর সেখানে ফিরে যাই নি।

আমার কাছে শিক্ষকতা একটা মহান পেশা। শুধু বলার জন্যই যে বলছি এমনটা না। শিক্ষার্থীদের সাথে আমার সবসময় অন্যরকম একটা টান কাজ করে। একেবারে রক্তের সম্পর্কের সমান আমি মনে করি। অনুভব করি। একটা শ্রদ্ধা বিরাজ করে শিক্ষার্থীদের মাঝে সবসময়। এই শ্রদ্ধাটাই তৃপ্তি এনে দেয়। আর সব থেকে বড় কথা হল মনের সন্তুষ্টি। আমি নিশ্চিত সন্তুষ্ট। রাস্তাঘাটে যখন চলাফেরা করি, শিক্ষার্থীদের সম্মান পাই যা আর দশটা মানুষ পায় না। চলতি পথেই তখন মনে হয় আমার কোন ভয় নাই!

আর ক্লাসে ঢুকলে তো নিজেকে সম্রাটের মত মনে হয়। স্কুলে যতক্ষণ থাকি একটা অদ্ভুত ভালো লাগা কাজ করে। কাজের পরিবেশ যেরকমই হোক না কেন, ভালো লাগাটা বরাবরই খুব দরকার বলে আমি বিশ্বাস করি।

আমার শিক্ষার্থীদের সবসময় বলি, শিক্ষক হতে চাইলে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষক হবার চেষ্টা যেন করে। আর না হলে কমপক্ষে একটা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে যেন পড়ে। ছাত্র হবার কি যে সুখ তা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে না পড়লে বোঝা যাবে না। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় জীবনের আনন্দ-বেদনাগুলো একেকটা উপন্যাসের মত!

আমার বিশ্লেষণ মতে, আগেরকার দিনের শিক্ষার্থীরা অধিকতর মনযোগী ছিল। তখন স্মার্টফোন, ট্যাব, ইন্টারনেট ইত্যাদি ছিল না। একটা বিষয় জানতে ওদের অনেক বইপত্র ঘাটতে হয়েছে। তবে এখনকার শিক্ষার্থীরাও অনেক বুদ্ধিমান এবং মেধাবী। এরা সহজে যেমন সব কিছু খুঁজে পাচ্ছে সময়টাও অনেক কাজে লাগছে। তবে এরা একসাথে অনেক কিছু করতে চায় বলে সবগুলো একসাথে মিলিয়ে নেওয়াটা একটু কঠিন হয়ে দাড়ায়। আর ছোট মানুষ ছোট মন তো, একটু ভিন্নমুখিতা কাজ করে। এসবের জন্য ওদের দোষ দেওয়া যাবে না। এগুলা নিয়েই, এসবের মধ্যে থেকেই ওরা মন্দটাকে ঝেড়ে ফেলে ভালো করবে আমি বিশ্বাস করি।

আমার মনে হয়, পরিবার হল একজন শিক্ষার্থীর প্রথম এবং প্রধান শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান। আমি মা-বাবাদের আহ্বান করব, স্নেহের পাশাপাশি সন্তানকে একটু দেখেশুনে রাখলে এই প্রযুক্তির কল্যাণেই ওরা ঠাকুরগাঁও-এর জন্য অসাধারণ কিছু বয়ে আনবে।"

"When we were students, during that period of time coaching classes were not as common as now at Thakurgaon. With a view to leading life with a better profession, selecting a subject wisely was a tough assignment. Having conscious parents at that time were also be considered as a blessing like these days. Rajshahi Old Govt. College was usually the first choice of everyone. Rangpur Carmichael College was also favored often. However, one thing I remember, there were no students who failed in our Zilla School in the batch of the year 1985.

Studying on Law was my dream. But my father was not willing to let me study law. I never denied my father’s decisions, so the dream never came true. I never thought about being a teacher. After my graduation I had attended different job tests. I was called from a bank once. After I started the profession as a teacher, I did not go back there.

To me teaching is a great profession. I am not telling this just because people say it or so. There have been a different relationship with my students always. It seemed to me like blood relations. I also feel it. There is a respect among the students always. This respect gives me satisfaction. And the most important thing is the satisfaction of mind. I certainly am contented. When I walk in the streets, I get respects from the pupils which is rare amongst general people. When I find this, I consider I have no fear!

And when I enter into the classroom it feels like I am a king. A very strange happiness works inside me as long as I stay in the school. I believe that whatever may be the conditions in work, to like it is the most prior thing.

I always inspire my students by saying that, if you want to be a teacher then you better try become a university faculty. If that is not possible then they should at least try to study in a university. The pleasure to be a student, no one will feel it if they don't study in university. Each and every happiness and sorrow of university life is like a novel!

According to me, early days, the students were more attentive. The smartphones, tabs, internet etc. was not present on that time. They had to study a lot of books only to explore a simple thing. But present students are intelligent and talented too. They find anything very easily and also use the time properly. But the problem is that they want to do a lot of things together; so it becomes very much difficult to keep track of those. And since they are little, a bit of diversion works too. Actually you cannot blame them for this. I believe with all these odds, they will find the best leaving bad things behind.

I think that family is the first and foremost institution of a student. My urge to the parents, if they look after their children with affection then with the help of the present technology they will bring something extraordinary for Thakurgaon."
