"আমার বড় বোন অনিমা বোসকে ছোটবেলায় গান গাইতে দেখতাম। সেই থেকে গানে আমার হাতেখড়ি। আমার বোনের হাত ধরে শিখে আসা গান যে আমি সারা জীবন লালন করব, ভাবিনি সেসময়। ১৯৫৬ সালে ঠাকুরগাঁও কলেজ থেকে পাশ করবার পরের বছরেই সঙ্গীতের সাথে সরাসরি যুক্ত হয়ে যাই। ঠাকুরগাঁও-এ শুদ্ধ সঙ্গীত চর্চার লক্ষ্যে নিক্কন সাংস্কৃতিক সংঘের যাত্রা শুরু হয় আমাদের হাত ধরেই। পরবর্তীতে আমরা সেটাকে নিক্কন সঙ্গীত বিদ্যালয়ে রুপান্তর করি। এখনকার বিক্রমপুর মিষ্টান্ন ভান্ডারের পেছনে ক্লাব ঘরে ঠাকুরগাঁও নিক্কন সঙ্গীত বিদ্যালয় যাত্রা শুরু করে। সে থেকে সঙ্গীত নিয়েই আছি।

সঙ্গীত জীবনের দীর্ঘ অর্ধ-শতাব্দীতে আমার সবচেয়ে বড় পুরষ্কার হল আমার স্ত্রী। নজরুল শিল্পী দীপ্তি বোসের সাথে গানের পথ ধরেই আমার পরিচয়। তিনি নিজেও প্রায় পঞ্চাশ বছর পার করেছেন রেডিওতে গান গেয়ে। তিনিই আমার সব থেকে বড় পাওয়া। দুর্ভাগ্য জনক হলেও সত্যি, বেশ কিছুকাল আগে আমাদের ছেড়ে তিনি পরপারে চলে গেছেন। শুধু আমার কাছেই না, নিক্কন সঙ্গীত বিদ্যালয় ছিল তাঁরও ধ্যান-জ্ঞানের আরাধ্য স্থান। দীপ্তি বোস অনেক যায়গা থেকে সম্মাননা পেয়েছেন। নজরুল সাংস্কৃতিক গোষ্ঠী তাঁকে ঢাকায় নিয়ে গিয়ে সম্মানিত করেছে। এছাড়াও ঢাকায় একাধিকবার নজরুল সঙ্গীতের অনুষ্ঠান করেছেন তিনি। 

আমার সন্তান পিয়াল এবং পিয়ালি দুজনই নিজ নিজ অবস্থান থেকে সঙ্গীত চর্চা করে আসছে। পিয়ালের ছাত্ররা প্রায় প্রতিবছরই সঙ্গীতে জাতীয় পুরষ্কার অর্জন করে থাকে। ব্যক্তিগতভাবে আমি ঠাকুরগাঁও-এ বর্ষ-বরণ এবং রবীন্দ্র-নজরুল জয়ন্তী উদযাপনের ধারাবাহিক ঐতিহ্য ধরে রাখার প্রয়াসে নিক্কনের মাধ্যমে প্রচেষ্টা চালিয়ে গেছি বহু বছর। সব মিলে আমাদের পরিবারটিকে ঠাকুরগাঁও-এর মানুষ একটি সঙ্গীত পরিবার হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি দিয়েছেন। এ বিষয়টি বড়ই আনন্দের। বিভিন্ন জায়গা থেকে পাওয়া পুরষ্কারগুলোর থেকে এই স্বীকৃতিটাই আমার কাছে বড় অর্জন। 

স্বপ্ন দেখি ঠাকুরগাঁও-এ একটি সঙ্গীত মহাবিদ্যালয়ের। যেখানে আর্থিক অবস্থার বিচারে সব সারির শিক্ষার্থীরা সঙ্গীত চর্চা করতে আসবে। জীবনে বিরাট একটা অংশ ঠাকুরগাঁও সঙ্গীতের বহুবর্ণরঞ্জিত বিস্তীর্ণ মেঘমণ্ডলে কাটিয়েছি। ঠাকুরগাঁও-এ সঙ্গীতের আরেকটি আবর্তনের প্রত্যাশায় অপেক্ষায় রইলাম।"

"My elder sister Anima Bose used to sing when I was a child. That was my introduction to the world of music. I never thought about doing music in my entire life during that moment. I passed my Intermediate in 1956 and in the following year I became directly involved with music. With a vision to spread the knowledge of music in Thakurgaon, Nikkan Sangskritik Sangha (cultural association) was established through us. Later, we transformed it as Nikkan Sangeet Biddalay (music school). Behind the Bikrampur Mistanno Bhandar there is a club room, Thakurgaon Nikkana Sangeet Biddalay started its journey here. I continued my music since then.

During my long fifty years of music, my wife is the biggest prize to me. I met Deepti Bose, a Nazrul songs artist, in this long path. She also had sung on the radio for nearly fifty years. She is my biggest achievement. It is unfortunate but true, she left us quite a few days ago. Not just to me, Nikkan was her adorable place as well. Deepti Bose was honored by many organizations. Nazrul Cultural Group has honored her in Dhaka. She has attended more than one Nazrul Songs Program in the Capital.

My son Piyal and my daughter Piyali have been practicing music from their respective position. Students of Piyal achieve national awards in music almost every year. Personally, I have tried to keep the continuance of Bengali New Year Celebration and Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti Festivals for many years with the collaboration of Nikkan. Our family has been recognized as a musical family by the people of Thaurgaon. This is a matter of extreme pleasure. This recognition is one of the best accomplishment among all of the achievements in my life.

I dream of a Music College in Thakurgaon. Learner from any economic background will have the privilege to come there to learn music. I have already spent a vast period of time for music of Thakurgaon. I am looking forward to the prospect of another rotation in Thakurgaon music."
